Dr. Mensa Otabil

Our General Overseer

Dr. Mensa Otabil is the Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, which has a network of local assemblies in Ghana, Europe, the United States, Canada, and other parts of Africa. He is also the founder and Chancellor of Central University, and CEO of Otabil and Associates, an executive and leadership growth consultancy.

He also serves as the senior pastor of Christ Temple, a ministry of the International Central Gospel Church, with a congregation in the tens of thousands. His overriding passion is to see the timeless principles of the Bible made applicable to the renewal and transformation of Africa. His messages speak to the pertinent concerns of a continent and people seeking solutions to their perplexing challenges.

Dr. Mensa Otabil has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees for his work in various fields. He was also a recipient of a Millennium Excellence Award. In 2007, he was honored by the Government of Ghana with a state award, Order of the Volta (Religion). He was, in 2013, considered the twenty-fourth most influential Ghanaian. In 2015, Ghanaians voted him as the “Most Influential Person in Ghana.” In March 2018, Dr. Otabil made it to the list of 100 Most Reputable Africans.

He is an astute author who has published several motivational, leadership and devotional books. He is a highly sought-after speaker at major conferences and mega-churches around the continents of the world.

Dr. Otabil presents a radio and television program called Living Word where he addresses life issues such as religion, education, economic development, and family life. The program has been broadcast by several radio and television networks in Ghana and across the world.

Dr. Otabil is a Ghanaian and resides in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. He is a devoted husband to his wife, Joy, and father to their four children, Sompa, Nhyira, Yoofi, and Baaba Aseda.
